Language Awareness
This course is designed to give students exposure to the structure and functions
of the English language in a communicative context. It is also designed to assist
the students to be competent in English. This course incorporates the grammar
awareness approach, which enables students to work out grammar rules for themselves.
The aims of the course are:-
- To create awareness among students on the use of English structures.
- To give students exposure on the use and functions of English structures.
- To help students build up confidence in order to achieve accurate language
use in communicative context.
- To help students develop their autonomy and become responsible for their
learning.
Oral & Written Communication
This course material is developed for students who may need to speak and write
effectively in English now or in the near future, and have learnt some basic
English to be able to speak and write the language successfully. This course
contains topics which emphasizes the two skills of writing and speaking; and
are relevant to most situations or that are ever likely needed in the student's
ordinary life.
At the end of the course, the students will be able to:
- Identify and use appropriate language structures in oral and written tasks
- Present oral written information in a clear and organized manner.
- Develop skills and strategies required for effective listening
- Demonstrate their ability to communicate in English confidently and effectively
in a variety of situations and role relationships.
